Versailles Apollo Fountain in Paris

Apollo fountain is located in the palace of Versailles, France. Versailles Palace covers 2000 acres (8 square kilometers), more than twice the area of Manhattan Central Park in New York. Louis XIV, the former owner of the palace of Versailles, claimed to be the "Sun God", as can be seen from his conceited ambition. He thought he was Apollo, the sun god of that era. The inspiration of Apollo fountain comes from the scene that the Roman Sun God came on stage from the sea and his horse fleet at dawn to bring light from heaven to the world. Designed under the leadership of Charles Le brun, the horse statue, whale statue of Apollo fountain and the horn blown by tritons can spray water. The whole fountain is located at the beginning of the miles long river. From here, the garden of Versailles seems endless.

"Apollo fountain" shows that a chariot pulled by four horses breaks through the water and rushes to the rising sun. Triton avoided them and hid in the shell, emitting sunlight from the depths of the water.

The whole Apollo fountain is a tribute to God, but for Versailles, it is undoubtedly a tribute to Louis XIV.
