How to choose the power of underwater pool lights?

When selecting power for underwater pool lights, multiple factors need to be considered comprehensively, including illumination requirements, water temperature, ambient light intensity, and desired color effects. One of the most important considerations is the requirement for brightness. Under the same voltage, the higher the power of the lamp, the higher the brightness. Here are some specific suggestions:

1. Select appropriate power according to the illumination requirements of the swimming pool

Generally speaking, for small swimming pools with a small area and shallow water depth, low-power lighting fixtures can be selected to meet the lighting needs. Lamps with power ranging from a few watts to over 10 watts may be sufficient; Larger or deeper swimming pools require the use of more powerful lighting fixtures to ensure the brightness and lighting effect of the entire pool. The power may be between 20W and 50W, or even higher.

2. Choose the appropriate power based on the water temperature of the swimming pool

For swimming pools with high water temperature, it is recommended to choose lamps with low power and high temperature resistance, generally below 30W. Due to working in a high-temperature underwater environment, if the power of the lighting fixtures is set too high, it can easily lead to the inability of the fixtures to dissipate heat, resulting in rapid light decay and, in severe cases, direct burning of the fixtures.

3. Choose the appropriate power based on the ambient light intensity

If the surrounding environment of the swimming pool has sufficient light, you can choose lamps with lower power; If the ambient light around the swimming pool is relatively dim, it is necessary to choose high-power lamps to improve the lighting effect.

4. Choose the appropriate power based on the color effect of the swimming pool

Different colors of light exhibit varying levels of illumination underwater, with purple, blue, green, and other colors having stronger illumination. Therefore, it is advisable to choose lighting fixtures with lower power; However, the illumination of red, yellow, and warm white light is relatively weak. It is recommended to choose lamps with higher power to ensure the desired effect is achieved.

The voltage of underwater pool lights must be strictly controlled below the safe voltage of 36V according to international standards, so the power is generally not set too high. The lighting fixtures use imported LED light sources, which have low power but high brightness, sufficient to meet the lighting requirements. If you don't know how to choose the power of pool lights, you can consult professional technical engineers or manufacturers.
